THE MINUTES OF FRANT PARISH COUNCIL PLANNING MEETING HELD AT FRANT MEMORIAL HALL ON MONDAY 7TH JUNE 2010 AT 7.30 PM

Present: Councillors Crookshank (Chairman), Mrs Best, Hall, Harris, Mrs Howell, Mrs Myers, Rowland and Wright.

Also in attendance: District Cllr. Padfield.

1.            TO RECEIVE APOLOGIES AND REASON FOR ABSENCE

Apology received from Cllr Gray.

2.            DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST

None.

3.            OPEN FORUM

None.

4.            TO MAKE RECOMMENDATIONS ON PLANNING APPLICATIONS RECEIVED

WD/2010/0860/F & 0861/LB Nevill Crest & Gun, Eridge Green – new garden room, kitchen extension, toilet extension, internal alterations to pub and barn.

It was resolved to respond as follows:

Frant Parish Council supports this application for improvements to allow this important listed building to reopen as a rural business. However, there are a number of observations which need to be addressed:

  • The proposal to use corrugated sheeting for the preparation area is not considered a suitable material for this listed building and does not enhance the main building; this is contrary to BE6 of the Non-Statutory Wealden Local Plan.
  • Any external lighting must be controlled by condition.
  • It is recognised that sufficient parking must be provided to support a new business. If there is no alternative to parking in front of the historic barn, then the surface should be grasscrete or similar to minimise the visual impact of further tarmac.
  • The views of the Conservation Officer must be sought.

WD/2010/1015/F Cobwebs, The Platt, Down Lane, Frant – single storey extension to provide living room, bedroom and bathroom

It was resolved to respond as follows:

No objection.

5.            To note decisions from Wealden District Council.

The following application has been approved:

WD/2010/0558/F Unit K, The Brewery, Bells Yew Green – reversion to 2 units, external alterations and change of use from B8 to B1.

6.            To receive report from District Councillor.

Eric Pickles MP, Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, has written to Planning Authorities advising of the intention to abolish Regional Strategies and return decision making powers on housing and planning to local councils. Wealden District Council has deferred any action until the change has been formalised through Parliament.

There being no further business the meeting closed at 8.08 pm.
